This world-renowned bicycle company is located in Waterloo, Wisconsin and was founded in late 1975 by Richard (Dick) Burke and Bevil Hogg. Penn Cycle in Richfield, Minnesota was the first Trek dealer to start selling these famous bikes in late 1977. In early 1978, the Trek Bicycle Company’s sales were $ 2,000,000.

In 1980, Trek expanded its production facility as well as production-related to complete bicycles. In 1981, they introduced their steel road bikes called "Pro". In 1983, the Trek company reached its peak with the production of its first mountain bike.

In 1985, this world-famous company produced the first bonded aluminum bike frame, which delighted all its customers. Fast-growing sales have encouraged Trek to expand its production space by another 7,000 m2. What further made this company a success was the start of the production of cycling clothing called "Trek Wear."

In the following years, the market of this company expanded to neighboring countries such as Germany and Great Britain. The Trek 5000 was introduced in 1989 and it was the first shaped carbon fiber frame.

The hybrid bike they produced in 1990 improved the entire production because they combined the comfort of a mountain bike and fast road bike riding - called MultiTracks.

Carbon frames

They opened their first retail store in 1991 in nearby Madison, Wisconsin. In the same year, Trek introduced the 5500 and 5200, featuring OCLV Carbon frames - a bike with full carbon frames. It was the easiest production framework in the whole world, which led to increased production and thus to the need to re-expand the production space.
