To cater their requirement, Rad Power Bikes has developed the RadMission 1 Electric Metro Bike after extensive research. This electric bicycle is one the cheapest electric bikes available though it has a powerful motor and a high capacity battery. To cater to cyclists of different heights a high step version is available for taller cyclists in steel blue, black and grey colors. Mechanical design
The bike has a frame made from durable aluminum 6061. This ensures that the bike weight is less than 50 lb, so that the bike can be easily carried up stairs or elsewhere. The bicycle has a single speed drive-train, to reduce the maintenance required and comfortable riding . The fork is of rigid steel. The Tektro brake rotors of size 180 mm are installed in the front and rear. The rims are made from double wall aluminum with 36 spokes. The spokes are made from 12 gauge black stainless steel. Electrical parameters
The electric bike has a rechargeable Samsung 35e Lithium battery rated at 48 V, 10.5 Ah. The battery can be charged using the Rad power bike smart charger with both 230 VAC and 110V ac outlets. The battery is powering a 500 W geared hub motor with planetary reduction 5:1 which provides 50 Nm torque for the bike. The fully charged bike can be used for a distance which varies from 25 to 45 miles. A customized LED display is provided with battery status and other indicators. 40 Lux headlights provide visibility over a distance of 70 m. The tail light is integrated with the brake light for visibility. The wiring harness and connectors used are water resistant.
